While Justice Sleeps By Stacey Abrams is a clever and complex legal thriller novel. It is a page turner and definitely keep you on the edge of your seat. There were some parts of the novel that went over my head with legal jargon and the prose. It is very different from other normal thriller reads, which made it drag just a little.

The story revolves around Supreme Court Justice Howard Wynn and an unexpected new development which leaves his law clerk, Avery Keene, in the centre of it all. This was a fast-paced novel that gave me significantly more than what was generally anticipated, and I mean this in the best way possible. Avery is fascinating and furthermore relatable as a protagonist. Abrams brings a reader into a character’s feelings, even if they are a generally private. I discovered this way of writing to be amazingly natural and fascinating. With each twist, Avery’s sentiments were palpable and furthermore sensible. There were moments when I had to remind myself that this was a fiction.

This novel has everything, child-parent relationship, loyalties to colleagues, attraction, courtroom drama, murder, even chess references…it was ALL there. A similar sort of style flowed with the setting also. I found myself enchanted while envisioning the inside of the Oval Office,  as well as the realistic familiarity of a late night get together at Kramer’s.

Moreover, there was a major association with India which I was NOT anticipating. As a Desi myself, I was thrilled about this surprise that wasn’t referenced in any synopsis or public statement that I had read. Stacey Abrams, knows precisely the thing this reader was searching for.

While Justice Sleeps By Stacey Abrams was absolutely PERFECT for the moment. It gives you an extreme spine chiller with a plenty of dimensions and human feeling at the centre of it all. All things considered, I think you will remember it long after you read the last page.
