As fate would have it, the symbiote eventually found a new host in Eddie Brock, leading to the creation of the infamous villain known as Venom. It was revealed that the Enigma Force itself was a symbiote, making each Captain Universe, including Spider-Man, a host to this alien symbiote.

Iron Man collects a sample of the virus and an infected dog to find a cure, bringing them to the Baxter Building.

In this issue, the lethal Venom Symbiote Virus, created by Doctor Doom using a sample of the Venom symbiote, makes its first appearance. The virus spreads across Manhattan, infecting numerous individuals, including Spider-Man. However, the combined efforts of the Mighty Avengers and New Avengers result in a cure, saving Spider-Man and the other infected citizens.
