Tabish Khair
Tabish Khair is a novelist, poet, critic, and asst. professor at the University of Aarhus, Denmark of the Department of English. Some of Khair’s works are Other Routes, Filming, The Things About Thugs, How to Fight Islamist Terror from the Missionary Position, ‘The Bus Stopped’, ‘The Gothic, Postcolonialism, and Otherness’, and more. Khair received the All India Poetry Prize.
Nagarjun
Vaidyanath Mishra pen name Nagarjun was an Indian poet, short story writer, and novelist. He was a Maithili and Hindi poet who also wrote travelogues and literary biographies. Nagarjun was known as People’s Poet or Janaki. He is considered the most well-known protagonist of modernity in Maithili. Some of his notable Novels are Rati Nath Ki Chachi, Balachnama, Himalaya Ki Betiya, Nai Paugh, and more; poetry is Yugdharao, Kal Aur Aaj, Strange Pankhon Wali, and more. He was awarded Sahitya Akademi Award in 1969.
Ramdhari Singh Dinkar
Dinkar was an Indian poet, patriot, essayist, and academic. He is referred to as one of the most significant modern Hindi poets. Ramdhari Singh Dinkar has been hailed as a national poet or Rashtrakavi because of his contribution to patriotic works. He was awarded the honorable Padma Bhushan in 1959 and Sahitya Akademi Award in the same year.
Gopal Singh Nepali
Nepali was a lyricist of Bollywood and poet of Hindi literature. His connection with Bollywood was for two decades which began in the year 1944 and came to an end with his death in 1963. He wrote ‘Kalpana’, a collection of Nepali poems. Some of his other popular collections of poems are Ragini, Umang, Neelima, and more.
Vidyapati
Maithili and Sanskrit poet Vidyapati was also known as the poet cuckoo of Maithili (Maithil Kavi Kokil). He was a royal priest, composer, courtier, and writer. He wrote devotional Vaishnava songs and love songs. Vidyapati knew Prakrit, Apabhramsha, Sanskrit, and Maithili. He has also been referred to as the ‘father of Bengali literature. He was a devotee of Shiva and a disciple of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
Mridula Sinha
Indian writer Mridula Sinha also served the nation as the first woman governor of the state of Goa from 2014 to 2019. She was honored with Padma Shri posthumously in 2021. Some of the Novels written by Sinha are Nayi Devyani, Gharwaas, Sita Puni Boli, and more.
Siddhartha Chowdhury
Indian novelist Siddhartha Chowdhury started writing when he was just 19 but according to him, 19 is too late. Some of his notable works are Patna Roughcut, Day Scholar, A Patna Manual of Style, and Diksha at St. Martin’s. He works as an Editorial Consultant in Delhi.
