One of the most gripping psychological thriller films to come out recently is The Silent Patient. A great artist commits an act of violence, and a forensic psychotherapist is desperate to discover why. Alex Michaelides’ debut book, about this, became an instant bestseller and was named Best Mystery & Thriller in the 2019 Goodreads Choice Awards. As if that weren’t enough, Annapurna and Brad Pitt’s production business, Plan B Entertainment, are bringing The Silent Patient to the big screen. Here are books similar to ‘the silent patient’ for fans of thriller books.

Like Jack and Grace, every couple is familiar with them. She has charm and elegance, whereas he has wealth and good looks. She is an impeccable homemaker, an expert gardener, and a talented cook who adores her younger sister who is crippled; he is a committed lawyer who has never lost a case. Despite being newlyweds, they appear to have everything. The ease and comfort of their home and the graciousness of the dinner parties they host completely seduce you at the earliest.

Some could refer to this as real love. Others could ponder Grace’s lack of phone presence or the reason she’s never available for a coffee date despite not working or perhaps this explains why all of the windows on the ground floor have such strong metal shutters. After the dinner party is ended and the front door has closed, some people might question what’s actually going on. Behind Closed Doors is a page-turning thriller and a worldwide sensation written by B. A. Paris.

She is absolutely seeking something else when she stumbles across the advertisement. However, the possibility to work as a live-in nanny for a staggeringly high wage appears too wonderful to pass up. Rowan Caine arrives at Heatherbrae House and immediately falls in love with the elegant “smart” mansion furnished with all contemporary comforts, the stunning Scottish Highlands, and this picture-perfect family. She struggles to explain the unfolding events that led to her arrest in letters she writes to her attorney from behind bars. Not just the broken technology that woke the family up with loud music or switched off the lights at the worst possible time, or the continual surveillance provided by the cameras placed throughout the house.

It wasn’t only the girls, who were a far cry from the impeccable mannered model kids she had encountered at her interview. It wasn’t even the way she was frequently left alone for weeks at a time with only the mysterious handyman Jack Grant as the only adult present. She is aware of her errors. She acknowledges that she lied to get the job and that she wasn’t always the best parent to the kids. By no means she is innocent. But she insists that she is innocent at least not of murder. The Turn of the Key is a page-turning thriller written by Ruth Ware, our generation’s Agatha Christie, and is full of gripping dread and delivered in her trademark tense way.

For years, legends of the “Marsh Girl” haunted Barkley Cove, a peaceful fishing community. Kya Clark is wild and untameable; she has no business in a civilized society. Thus, when the well-known Chase Andrews is discovered dead in late 1969, the neighbourhood quickly suspects her. Kya, however, is not who they claim. She is a born naturalist who attended school for one day before learning from the countryside and observing the dishonest signals of fireflies to understand the true ways of the world. She has the ability to remain alone forever, but eventually, she starts to long to be touched and loved.

Kya discovers a brand-new and unexpected world after being drawn to two young guys from the area who are all taken by her untamed beauty—until the unimaginable occurs. In “Where the Crawdads Sing”, Owens contrasts a beautiful hymn to nature with a moving coming-of-age tale and eerie mystery. The thought-provoking, sage, and profoundly emotional debut book by Owens remind us that we are always being formed by the child within of us and are equally vulnerable to the violent and beautiful mysteries that nature holds. The plot concerns the impact of solitude on the actions of a young woman who, like all of us, is genetically predisposed to group membership. The rich ecosystem and natural history of its wild inhabitants are dusted with hints of mystery.
