Welcome back to the “Summer of Superman”! With the All In initiative reshaping the DC Universe, Kara Zor-El returns in a brand new solo series. But as we quickly find out, you can’t always go home again—especially when someone else is already living your life. Here is a detailed, page-by-page breakdown of the full issue, Supergirl #1 (2025).
The Story So Far
The issue opens with a vibrant title spread crediting the creative team. We are introduced to the “Summer of Superman” branding, setting the stage for a new era for the Super-Family. The tone is set immediately: bright, colorful, but with an underlying mystery waiting to unfold.
Sharkopolis
We kick off in Metropolis, where Kara (Supergirl) is dealing with a bizarre threat: Princess Shark, who is determined to turn the city into “Sharkopolis”.
- Action: Kara tries to reason with the villain, suggesting she just needs to “cool off,” but eventually has to use force to stop her.
- Recap: As she fights, Kara narrates her origin story: the last survivor of Argo City, sent to protect her baby cousin Kal-El, only to arrive late when he was already Superman.
- Current Status: After adventures across the galaxy, Kara is back on Earth looking for purpose. She rounds up the sharks with Krypto and heads to the Fortress of Solitude.
Trouble in Kandor
At the Fortress, Kara prepares for her “daily Kandor patrol.”
- The Descent: Leaving Streaky and Krypto behind (with a warning not to knock the bottle city off the table), she shrinks down via the “microwave miniaturization tunnel,” which makes her queasy.
- The Incident: Inside the bottle city of Kandor, she spots a runaway train. She uses her Yellow Ring of Nor-Kann (which protects her powers inside the red-sun environment) to stop it.
- The Reveal: The cause of the accident is Lar-On, a werewolf-like Kryptonian prisoner who has escaped. He seems confused and panicked. Kara manages to save a falling civilian and calm the situation.

The Science Council
The story shifts to the aftermath within Kandor.
- The Trial: Kara appeals to the Kandorian Science Council, asking them to revise Lar-On’s therapy program. She believes their methods are “arbitrary and excessive”.
- Rejection: The Council rejects her request, coldly stating that Lar-On’s lycanthropy is responding to treatment. They offer to remand him to her custody as a “sponsor,” essentially making her his parole officer.
- Kara’s Doubt: Kara declines, feeling the weight of imposter syndrome. She worries she is stuck in Superman’s shadow and isn’t ready to be a mentor. She decides she needs a break and sets her sights on her childhood home: Midvale.
Welcome to Midvale… Home of Supergirl?
Kara calls her adoptive mother, Eliza Danvers, who mentions they are back in Midvale renovating the old house. Kara decides to visit for the July 4th weekend.
- The Arrival: Upon flying into town, Kara notices something strange. A billboard reads: “Midvale: Home of Supergirl!”.
- The Merch: The town is obsessed. There are “Supergirl Salads,” posters, and statues everywhere. Kara is baffled because she kept her identity secret while living there.
- The House: She arrives at her parents’ house, “Skip Woof House,” to find her old belongings—including boy band posters and her old costumes—dumped in the yard like trash.

Old Friends & New Mysteries
While inspecting her discarded costumes, Kara runs into an old friend, Clarissa Giltedge.
- Catching Up: Clarissa is now a fashion graduate. She assumes Kara (who she knows as Linda) has been away acting or doing camera work.
- The Gossip: Clarissa drops a bombshell: Supergirl has been living in Midvale for years. According to the town, she “poofed” back up one day and never left. Clarissa is skeptical of the hero worship, finding it boring.
- The Imposter: Kara realizes there is someone pretending to be her.
Supergirl vs. Supergirl
A car accident interrupts their chat. Kara rushes to save the driver, but another “Supergirl” beats her to it.
- The Look: The imposter wears a costume Kara critiques as needing to “break up the red a bit more”.
- The Confrontation: The townspeople cheer for the imposter and view the real Kara as the fake.
- The Fight: The imposter attacks Kara using gadgets rather than powers. She uses a “Discombobulation Generator” and a liquid that reacts to Kara’s specific Kryptonian bio-signature, messing with her suit.
- Retreat: Disoriented and mocked as “Phonygirl,” Kara is forced to flee the scene.

The Cliffhanger
Kara decides to go directly to her parents, Eliza and Jeremiah, hoping they are working on a secret D.E.O. case and can explain the madness.
- The Reunion: She knocks on the door, but her parents look at her like a stranger. “I think you must have the wrong house, young lady!” Eliza says.
- The Twist: A young woman appears behind them—holding a dog that looks like Krypto—and introduces herself to Kara: “Hi! My name’s Linda Danvers. Nice to meet you!”.
- Ending: The real Kara is left stunned as the issue ends with a “To Be Continued!”.
