Origin Story of Ironheart | Riri Williams: Today let’s talk about the genius teen superhero Riri Williams aka Ironheart. Just a glimpse of the teen superhero has created buzz amongst the Marvel fans. Her glimpse in the trailer of 2022 movie ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ has given rise to many speculations and storylines. Fans are eagerly waiting for Riri’s full fledged storyline & role, which they will be seeing in the 2023 Web Series ‘Ironheart’. So, let’s take a look at the origin story of the teenage genius Riri Williams (Ironheart).
Ironheart’s Origin Story
Riri Williams is a fifteen year old superhero character. Ironheart’s character was created by the duo of Brian Michael Bendis and Mike Deodato in 2016, the teen superhero character was later redesigned by Eve Ewing and Kevin Libranda. Riri made her first appearance in the 2016 comic book Invincible Iron Man (Volume 3 #7), this appearance was a cameo. Riri Williams found her first full fledged appearance in the same comic book series (Invincible Iron Man Volume 3 #9) in 2016. Whereas Riri’s debut as Ironheart’s character happened in the 2017 comic book Invincible Iron Man (Volume 4 #6).
Early Life of Ironheart
Riri is the daughter of Late Riri Williams Sr. and Ronnie. The fifteen year old superhero lives in Chicago with her mother (post her father’s death). Riri is a true genius and is an engineering student in M.I.T (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), she attends the institute on scholarship. The girl stays alone and constantly works and designs an armour suit which is quite similar to Iron Man’s armour suit. Riri also prevents 2 inmates from escaping the New Mexico State Penitentiary, in the act her armour suit gets damaged. After knowing Riri Williams’ skills and accomplishments Tony Stark decides to meet the teenager. In the meeting Mr. Stark comes to a conclusion that he’ll support and endorse Riri’s decision of becoming a superhero.
Ironheart becoming a part of Champions
In a short span of time Riri Williams established herself as a superhero ‘Ironheart’. She had several encounters with villains & supervillains like Rhino (Aleksei Sytsevich), Armadillo (Antonio Rodriguez) and Lady Octopus (Carolyn Trainer). With her combats & fights with numerous villains and with Tony Stark’s initial support, Riri Williams becomes a notable superhero in the market. Riri also gets an opportunity to join a team of superheroes ‘Champions’. After her approval, Ironheart officially became a member of the Superhero team ‘Champions’. Where she got an opportunity to work with experienced and iconic superheroes like Black Widow (Natasha Romanoff).
Rise of Ironheart
Post Iron Man’s (Tony Stark) death, a new law of banning underage superhoes was enforced. In the period Riri Williams aka Ironheart was also in a lost state of mind without her mentor (Tony Stark). Meanwhile Tony Stark’s adopted brother (Arno Stark) took over the Stark Unlimited. Riri Williams later realised that she needs to fight injustice and save people. But the teen superhero was arrested under the law of banning young & underage superheroes. The law of banning young superheroes was known as Kamala’s Law. To enforce this law the government created a task force known as C.R.A.D.L.E. The task force enforced the law by finding & arresting the young and underage superheroes.
The law almost made the team of young superheroes helpless. They wanted and wished for some saviour. Ironheart decided to take matters in her own hand and rescue her fellow teammates. Riri decided to revolt against the forces. The teen superhero was successful in escaping. Then Ironheart planned a venture against the C.R.A.D.L.E. with the team of ‘Champions’. In a dangerous encounter the team of heroes was saved by the ex leader of X-men ‘Cyclops’. Post this event they took refuge and regrouped the team of Champions to fight the forces.
The teen superhero has a lot of potential and can be a game changer for the upcoming marvel Ventures. The whole journey of Ironheart depends upon her 2023 Disney plus Web Series ‘Ironheart’. If the venture fares well, we can hope for the beginning of a new era of teen heroes in the MCU on the big screen.
