Amazon has finally unveiled a first-look image from its highly anticipated live-action series Spider-Noir, starring Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage. The reveal took place on May 12 during Amazon’s annual upfront presentation in New York City, giving fans a striking black-and-white glimpse of Cage donning the iconic trench coat, fedora, white goggles, and webbed mask of Spider-Man Noir.

A Gritty Take on Spider-Man in 1930s New York

Spider-Noir reimagines the classic web-slinger in a gritty, noir-inspired setting. Set in 1930s New York City, the series follows a weathered and world-weary private investigator—played by Cage—who must confront the shadows of his past as the city’s lone masked vigilante. The character, originally introduced in Marvel Comics and later made popular through Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, brings a darker and more mature tone to the Spider-Man mythos.

This new adaptation draws directly from the Spider-Man Noir comic books, offering a fresh yet nostalgic take on the character. The series will be available in both black-and-white and color formats, giving viewers the option to immerse themselves in the full noir experience.

Cage Returns to the Role in Live-Action Form

Nicolas Cage previously voiced Spider-Man Noir in the Oscar-winning Into the Spider-Verse animated film, where his dry wit and hardboiled delivery won over fans. Now, he’s stepping into the character’s shoes—or boots—once again, this time in live-action.

The first-look photo shows Cage in full costume, capturing the stylized, shadow-heavy aesthetic of classic film noir. The decision to present the series in both color and monochrome further underscores the creative team’s commitment to authenticity and atmosphere.

Star-Studded Cast and Creative Team

The series boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including:

  • Lamorne Morris
  • Brendan Gleeson
  • Abraham Popoola
  • Li Jun Li
  • Karen Rodriguez
  • Jack Huston

Guest stars include Lukas Haas, Cameron Britton, Cary Christopher, Michael Kostroff, Scott MacArthur, Joe Massingill, Whitney Rice, Amanda Schull, Andrew Caldwell, Amy Aquino, Andrew Robinson, and Kai Caster.

Behind the camera, the creative team brings serious pedigree. Emmy Award-winning director Harry Bradbeer (Fleabag, Killing Eve) will direct and executive produce the first two episodes. The series is co-showrun by Oren Uziel (The Lost City, 22 Jump Street) and Steve Lightfoot (The Punisher, Shantaram), who also serve as executive producers.

The project was developed in collaboration with Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal—the Academy Award-winning team behind Into the Spider-Verse. Lord and Miller produce under their Lord Miller banner, alongside Aditya Sood and Dan Shear. Amy Pascal executive produces through Pascal Pictures.

Release and Distribution

While an exact premiere date has yet to be confirmed, Spider-Noir is slated to release in 2026. The series will premiere domestically on MGM+’s linear channel and then become available globally the following day via Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories.

Produced by Sony Pictures Television, Spider-Noir marks a unique collaboration between Marvel properties and premium streaming platforms, promising a noir-drenched superhero tale unlike anything currently on television.
