It Happened One Summer By Tessa Bailey is an absolute charming read. It was engaging, incredibly sweet, and very sexy. I adored the Schitt’s Creek meets Deadliest Catch vibe in romantic comedy structure. I loved Piper and Brendan and liked the good and bad times of them meeting up. This was an absolute pleasure and I pretty much inhaled it. I had a big smile on my face practically the whole time I was reading and when I did not, it was on the grounds that I was swooning and fanning myself from the totally scorching chemistry among Brendan and Piper.
Told from double third person points of view (Brendan and Piper). It Happened One Summer continues in the outcome of Piper’s arrest for breaking and entering, and setting up a wild party where she did not belong. Piper is an influencer on social media, his life has been spiralling crazy.
As punishment and to teach a lesson to our heroine, her step father Daniel uncovers that her late dad Henry Cross left her sister Hannah and Piper a bar in Westport, Washington, a little sea side town where Piper and Hannah, for the following three months, will learn to call home. Enter fisherman and widower Captain Brendan Taggart, and the man with whom Piper will be in love. What follows is the romance and connection among Piper and Brendan, and the expected fall-out as Piper’s opportunity in Westport arrives to an end.
Piper Bellinger is only an influencer; a party girl with no knowledge or plans for the future, and in this, she struggles with the daily assignments like clothing and cooking. sent off Westport, Washington, Piper and Hannah have three months to turn their lives around, 90 days in which Piper will be in love, and Hannah starts to rethink her own future back in LA.
Piper had never thought about calling Westport her home, and had plans to get back to LA when her ‘sentence’ was finished. However, repairing her late dad’s bar, and being in love with our story line hero, provided Piper an opportunity to stop and think about the future, a future she had never thought about or considered. Brendan Taggart is a Westport local, having grown up living and working at the ocean. Widowed seven years back, Brendan still couldn’t move on however meeting Piper Bellinger gave Brendan hope for another future.
Overall, I cannot tell you the amount I enjoyed It Happened One Summer By Tessa Bailey. I wanted to live in this book world for a little longer. The chemistry among Brendan and Piper just added such a great amount to the story, and I felt that the pacing was totally awesome. Excited for the future book in the series.
