Human Skills and Artificial Intelligence – After movies like I, Robot, and Ex Machina we all started fearing what would happen if a robot becomes as intelligent as humans and starts ruling the world. Believe it or not, this thought is not negligible; it might very well happen someday.

According to a study by Oxford University, every developed nation will suffer from increasing unemployment of up to 47% in the coming years. Artificial intelligence is almost equivalent to human skills. It will have a larger influence in industries such as healthcare, home maintenance, customer service, logistics, and transport.

However, there is no need to be frightened especially if you are aware that there are certain skills that will never be replaced by AI or artificial intelligence in the future. With all these advancements there will be a rise in new industries that didn’t exist before.

In this article, we are going to read about 5 human skills that are unique and won’t be replaced by artificial intelligence in the future.

Artificial Intelligence vs Empathy

One thing that makes humans is the capability to empathize. Robots can perform simple human interactions such as customer service through the telephone, but no matter how developed or advance they are, they will never be able to understand the emotions of humans. They cannot see themselves in the other person’s shoes and realize their feelings.

This skill is highly required for teamwork because you have to communicate and understand others. Can you imagine a robot priest offering words of wisdom to the mass? Or an AI trying to pacify an animal before its surgery?

Artificial Intelligence vs Judgment

We all know that everything is not black and white like the occupation of a lawyer or judge. In these occupations, the wrongs and rights are determined by inborn human beings based on their sense of what’s right and what’s not. Negotiation and conflict resolution are skills that cannot be replaced. Certainly, some sides of an argument can be legally correct, however, there are several conflicts in which irrationality and emotions are involved.

Physical Skill

For centuries and decades, humans have come together to be enthused and awed by athletes and the sheer talent of the human mind and body. An athlete is a great example of a profession that requires a high level of capacity, and the result is appreciated by others since it is the result of unique and inspiring human ability.

In a certain way, it is equivalent to the skill of being exceedingly creative. Similarly, as appreciated the extraordinary skills of poets and artists are, they also appreciate the level of intelligence and vision required to hit a successful home run.

Artificial Intelligence vs Creativity

If you have a good imagination and a creative mind, it means that you are capable of dreaming about new inventions that do not exist at the moment. Well, robots are capable of analyzing and recognizing matter and data, and at a certain level computers can also produce writing, music, and art.

However, Tom Pick of Talent explains that “the images, sounds tastes, and ideas conveyed can’t be reduced to code.” Human creativity is innate and it cannot be replaced. Humans will always possess the seeds of new ideas and concepts.

Technological Management

It might seem evident to most populations that the most at-risk occupations are in the dominion of technology, and most likely a robot will take over in the future. However, since technology belongs to humans in the first place so the requirement of humans with the capability to manage, fix, and create will always be needed.

Bernard Marr in an interview with Forbes reveals that every automated system will still require someone to look after in the beginning. And, even if a company is being looked after by an AI system, an accountant or marketing expert will always be needed.
