All the Murmuring Bones by A.G. Slatter is a beautifully written and charming dark fantasy. It is loaded with myth and magic. When Miren was a child she was captivated with the stories of witches, mer-creatures, and ghosts read to her from an old family book. She soon finds the tales held truth as well as an uncommon family ancestry. She encounters a few mystical creatures along her excursion to find reality with regards to her origins.

It is said that many years back in the past the family made a deal with the Mer. Deal about the prosperity and the well-being of their ships in return for kid from every generation given to the ocean. Over the years the family could not keep their deal leaving the family close to destitute.

Miren O’Malley is the closest to pure blood. She is viewed as her grandma Aoife’s last opportunity to reestablish their family’s previous glory. With a plan to utilize Miren’s freedom as payment she makes a plan. However, Eighteen-year-old Miren chooses to control her own fate. Miren sets out on an excursion to discover something she though lost. However, danger hides everywhere and her families ‘ past obligations still need to be paid.

A solid women’s story in which a young women battles to control her own fate, by getting away, from her family and the individuals who wish to control her. I like fantasy creatures, particularly dark Gothic Stories. So All The Murmuring Bones by A.G. Slatter was pure joy loaded up with selkies, kelpies, mermaids, phantoms, witches, and many more.

All The Murmuring Bones by A.G. Slatter is a dark fantasy. So it does include sensitive topics like physical abuse, the murder of children and adults, marriage between close relations, etc. Although these themes might be delicate, I felt that they were important to the plot. This tale has been one of my number one read of 2021. I am looking forward to reading more Books by this writer later.
