Female lead characters in comics are not a new concept. It was started way back in 1938 with the introduction of Sheena. She was the first female character who acts as the main heroine in her own comic series “Sheena, Queen of the Jungle” in 1942? Although the same year she was introduced Wonder Woman also made her first appearance. Sheena is holding the official Guinness World Record for being the first female comic character. Black widow

Black widow in recent past has made a huge fan base. It is mainly because of the character being played by Scarlett Johansson in marvel movies or say marvel cinematic universe. Black Widow as a comic character made her first debut in 1964 in the comics “Tales of Suspense”.

Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman was the first widely recognizable female comic character. She was introduced by All-American Publications of that time in Fiction House’s Jungle Comics which was published in February 1940. All-American Publications was later merged into what we today know as DC comics. Wonder woman made its world wide fan base after the release of movie staring “Gal Gadot” in 2017.

Scarlet Witch

In march 1964 Scarlet Witch made her first appearance in The X-Men 4. Most of the people know Scarlet Witch as Wanda maximoff or “Wandavision”. This character gained its popularity worldwide with the marvel movies and Disney plus web series. Web series named “wandavision” was released in 2021 on Disney plus staring “Elizabeth Olsen”.

Supergirl

Supergirl as we all know is the cousin of superman and comes from the same destroyed planet “krypton”. This Character was first introduced in “The Supergirl from Krypton” comics in 1959. Since the introduction, this character has gained its own popularity and fan base. Supergirl appeared many times in different TV series like ” smallville” and “Arrow” by CW. Since 2015 Melissa Marie Benoist is playing as “Supergirl” in TV series named ” Supergirl”.

Mystique

Mystique is commonly known for her association with X man. This character was first introduced in Marvel comics in 1978 in the comics named Ms marvel. Her superhuman ability is that she can copy the appearance and voice of any individual with stunning accuracy. This character is still one of the most important character in x man movies.
