An Isolated Incident by J.D. Kirk is a complex murder mystery. Story is intriguing, with multiple sub-plots and several viable suspects. The killing strategy is especially grisly, and the connected kidnapping sub-plot was an astonishment. What I didn’t anticipated was a gang involvement trope, including a psychopathic leader and the typical gang brutality. In addition, clichéd interrogation strategies utilized by DCI Logan and ex-Detective Superintendent Hoon.

This time Logan and team are examining what looks like a home invasion where a family of four is killed. It’s uncovered that the male adult is one half of 80’s comedy legends Neeps, Tatties, Archie Tatties and his wife. While her two daughters have been killed while on vacation in a far off area. Logan and the group are looking for suspects and any motives. Trying to find why anybody would make such a heinous crime and most importantly on a celebrity and his family.

Logan and his young DC Tyler Neish need to return to Logan’s old favourite spot in Glasgow. As they need to talk with Billy Neeps, Archies former partner in the double act to break the News. Something about the meeting with Billy does not sit right with either detective yet they cannot exactly work out what.

Who would ever want to murder a beloved comedian and his family? Does the appropriate answer lie in the past or has it happened because of things he is associated with through his business life, since the stage and Television work had dried up?

If you like to read Thriller stories with police procedurals and real life issues. Issues that influence both the victims and the cops. Then in that case “An Isolated Incident by J.D. Kirk” is perfect for you. I have adored each book in this series and I trust that there is a lot more to come. If you are looking for a new author to follow J.D. Kirk is worth following.
