Rachel Brosnahan, best known for her Emmy-winning role as Midge Maisel in “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” is making her debut as Lois Lane in James Gunn’s upcoming DC Universe film, “Superman: Legacy.” This marks a significant step for Brosnahan, transitioning from her acclaimed television roles to a major blockbuster.

Brosnahan has a rich acting background. She first gained attention for her role in the series “Manhattan,” a fictional retelling of the Manhattan Project. However, it was her portrayal of Midge Maisel, a 1950s housewife turned stand-up comedian, that brought her widespread acclaim and several awards, including an Emmy and two Golden Globes.

In “Superman: Legacy,” Brosnahan joins David Corenswet, who will portray Superman, alongside a cast that includes Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific. The film is part of a larger reboot of the DC Universe spearheaded by James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Set photos have shown Brosnahan in Lois Lane’s iconic purple attire, hinting at her involvement in significant action sequences. The presence of Mister Terrific and his T-Sphere ship from the comics suggests an exciting blend of classic DC elements and fresh storytelling. Brosnahan has described her take on Lois Lane as “feisty, marvelous, and fiercely intelligent,” aligning well with her previous roles that showcase strong, independent women.
