If the change is happening in an unpredictable and uncontrollable situation, there is nothing that an individual can do to have any control over it. These situations can include natural disasters, shifting or moving, getting laid off from jobs, someone’s death, etc. It becomes difficult to deal with situations that do not have a direct and simple solution. It requires patience and sufficient care about yourself and others in situations like these. At such times, you should enquire about the situation. You can ask around and find a solution to your problem.
Dip Your Toe in the Water
As immediate and fast changes are sometimes, there are many times when there is a small notice period before any major change happens. There are chances that you may end up using that period feeling scared or anxious. Instead of that, that time can be used to focus on the change that is to happen and learn how you can adapt to it. One such technique is to adapt to the situation. For example, if you are moving somewhere, trying to travel from around that neighborhood will make it easier for you to travel there when you actually move in.
Ask for Help
Humans are social animals who are meant to help each other out during difficult and trying times. Asking and waiting for help is very normal, it makes you more human. Sometimes, people hesitate a lot to ask for help. It is better to ask than to exhaust yourself and deal with that. It is always better to have a list of things that you could do if things ever went wrong. You can prepare a mental list of all the things you need from your house, including important documents, papers, jewelry, etc. Keep testing yourself by reminding yourself of all the important things you would need in an emergency situation. You should also try and move out of your comfort zone and do activities that can make you uncomfortable at times. Once you learn how to get out of your comfort zone and try adventurous things, adjusting to change can be pretty easy.
Keep a Sense of Perspective
It is easy to get lost in doing random things as a distraction to keep yourself away from thinking about the changes in your life. But those things can only last for a few days, or at best, weeks. The point is, at some point in time. you would have to face the reality and deal with the situation. So it is better to make a priority list at the beginning itself and deal with the tough situations first. You should have a firm view of what is important and what is not.
Remember Your Goal
Slight changes here are there are about to happen, this should not shift your goal at all. For example, you wanted to pursue a career in medicine, but you did not get admission to the college that you wanted and applied to. This can be very disappointing and upsetting. However, this should not stop you from pursuing your final goal, which is to be a doctor. You should look for alternatives, and discover a way to reach the end goal.
