Welcome to the Age of Revelation, a dark future timeline where the X-Virus has swept across the United States. Millions have died, and the survivors have mutated, living in the “Revelation Territories” ruled by the tyrant Doug Ramsey (aka Revelation). But amidst the despair, a gruesome legend is born: Undeadpool. In this debut issue, we follow a tragic, horrifying journey of survival, betrayal, and insatiable hunger. Here is the full page-by-page story breakdown of Undeadpool #1.
The Setup: A Broken Van in a Broken World
The story opens with a grim history lesson: The X-Virus was unleashed by a gene bomb X years ago, creating a mutant nation. We then cut to “X Years From Now” in Louisville, a city within the Revelation Territories. A beaten-up van rolls into Two-Fer-One Auto, a repair shop run by a multi-headed mutant mechanic named Two-Fer. The passengers are a group of young, optimistic mutants who call themselves the “Alpha Warriors.” Two-Fer fixes their carburetor but warns them that while the land is dangerous, the real threat might be the passenger they are carrying with them.

The Alpha Warriors
We are introduced to the team, who resemble knock-off versions of famous heroes:
- Magni: A Thor-like mutant with lightning powers.
- Fantastica (Leah): A stretcher obsessed with Reed Richards.
- Kid Man-Thing: A teenager with plant powers (and arguably the best name).
- Fearless (Angela Mitrache): A blind telepath/empath who resembles Daredevil.
The kids recount a recent battle where they fought off “Babels” (mindless drones of Revelation) and believe they are destined to join the resistance “Flotilla” in St. Louis. They are naive, viewing their survival as a superhero origin story. Two-Fer watches them leave, ominously noting that her warning wasn’t about the badlands—it was about Wade Wilson.
Campfire Confessions
The group camps for the night at the “Dove of Peace Summer Camp.” Deadpool (Wade Wilson) takes over the narration. He reveals the horrifying truth of his existence in this timeline. He is infected with the X-Virus, but his healing factor won’t let him die or fully mutate. He exists in a state of limbo—a “sexy, cancer-pustule-covered bod” trapped between life and death. Wade reveals he is blind, having lost his sight to the virus. However, he perceives the world differently now, seeing things “for what they are” rather than what they look like. As the group settles in, Kid Man-Thing volunteers to go into the woods to hunt for food, leaving the others behind.
The Hunger Awakens
With the plant-boy gone, Magni and Fantastica sneak off for a romantic tryst, leaving Fearless with Deadpool. Wade’s narration turns darker. He explains that his condition has a side effect: his body is a biological engine that craves fuel. And in the Revelation Territories, fuel means mutant flesh. Deadpool interrupts the couple (or so it seems in his narration), explaining that his body often moves on “autopilot,” reverting to the muscle memory of a killer while his mind screams helplessly inside.

The Gruesome Twist
The horror unravels rapidly.
- Magni is dead: Fearless, using her mental powers, realizes she can’t feel Magni’s mind anymore. Deadpool reveals his body has already eaten him. He found the “Thunder God” delicious.
- Kid Man-Thing is dead: Wade reveals that when the kid went “hunting,” he became the prey. Deadpool’s instincts took over, and he consumed the boy.
- Fantastica is dead: Wade mentions his old teleportation belt. While it can’t do long distances anymore, it works perfectly for short-range ambushes. He “teleported” to Fantastica and eliminated her.
Deadpool explains this using a twisted metaphor of his old “Dead Pool” betting days at Weapon X, giving each kid “odds” of survival that they have already lost.
The Survivor
Only Fearless remains. Deadpool breaks down, confessing his self-loathing. He admits he always wanted to be a mutant like the X-Men, but not a monster like this. He claims his mind has finally wrestled back control from his hungry body. He begs Fearless to use her lie-detecting powers to see that he is telling the truth: he wants to help her reach St. Louis. He argues that she needs a monster to protect her in this world. Terrified and alone, Fearless realizes she has no other choice but to trust the man who just ate her friends.

The Epilogue
The scene shifts to a log entry recorded by “The Professor” (likely Cable, hinted at by the mechanical arm and “Conductor of X” credit). He is monitoring the situation. He identifies Fearless (Angela) as a high-value asset with the potential to unleash other mutant powers. The Professor notes that Angela is naive and needs a mentor—someone to harden her for the war to come. He declares that K-Force is ready for war.
