CAT (Common admission test) is an entry-level examination for best business colleges in India. students are selected on a percentile system dependent on abilities in English, Mathematics, and Logical Reasoning. (Percentile – It means the student who has scored highest will be 100 percentile and students below him/her will be based on the number of students appeared in the examination and on the scale of 100 where the marks obtained by a particular student stand)

Example: suppose 600 students appeared for the exam and the highest mark obtained (By Amit) is 300 out of 350. Amit obtained 100%. Now suppose Sumit obtained 279 and he is 10th highest scorer. His percentile will be 98.33.

Calculation = 100/600 multiplied by 10 (10 is the position of the students by marks) = 1.666. Final = (100 – 1.66 = 98.33 percentile).

Every year more than 2 lakhs students appear for this exam and only 1500 are selected for IIM (Indian institute of management) colleges.

IIT-JEE

IIT-JEE is an entrance test for future engineers in IIT colleges in India. It is viewed as one of the hardest examinations in India. Exams are taken in two stages.

IIT-JEE (Selection Stages)

  1. JEE Main
  2. JEE Advanced

Students must pass the JEE Main in order to appear JEE Advanced.

Every year nearly 12 – 14 lakh students give JEE Main. Among those 12-14 lakh students only 2.2 lakh students are qualified for JEE Advanced. Success rate for students appearing in IIT JEE is 2.3%.

GATE

CA Exam (Chartered Accountant Exam  )
