Most Powerful Wizards in the Harry Potter Series

The Hogwarts world created by J. K. Rowling is like a universe with a lot of mysteries and characters of different houses. It will always be difficult to choose the best wizard because it will always depend on the house. But here is a list of the most powerful wizards in the Harry Potter, as presented in the book and series.

Albus Dumbledore

The renowned character of Albus Dumbledore played by Richard Harris and Michael Gambon from the Gryffindor House with a phoenix as his Patronus is certainly one of the most popular wizards in Harry Potter. Although he was not the ultimate killer of Voldemort he was the one that Lord Voldemort feared the most as he was the primary rival of the infamous Dark wizards. He defeated the great Grindelwald and became the possessor of the Elder Wand and chose to be the headmaster of the Hogwarts School.

Voldemort

Lord Voldemort played by Ralph Fiennes was one of the best and dangerous students to graduate Hogwarts. Unlike Harry Potter, Tom Riddle aka Voldemort was well aware of his wizard powers and he chose to frighten people with it. He is the only wizard to create multiple Horcruxes to achieve immortality. He was an unstoppable wizard with his dark power but he was prophesized to be killed by Harry.

Hermione Granger

One of the most loved characters in Harry Potter is Hermione Granger played by Emma Watson. She was the cleverest student of her age; there was barely anything that Hermione did not know of Hogwarts. Not only intelligence and answers from books, but she was also familiar with potions and was able to create potions that were unknown to all the students of her age. She was one of the best friends of Harry Potter. She single-handedly protected their trio (Harry, Ron, and Hermione) from Voldemort in Deathly Hallows Part 1. He went on to become the Minister of Magic in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

Harry Potter

The character-based on which Harry Potter and the following series were written is played by Daniel Radcliffe. He was the ‘chosen one’ but it is tough to consider him the most powerful wizard in Hogwarts history but it is achievements, intellect, and struggle in the house that makes him stay on the list. He was not aware of his powers and charms. It is his benevolent and pure heart that gave him the ability to fight and defeat Lord Voldemort. After the battle of Hogwarts, Harry got married to Ginny Weasley and became an Auror.

Mad-Eye Moody

Mad-Eye Moody or Alastor Moody played by Brendan Gleeson was a very stern and paranoid professor of the school of Hogwarts. He was abducted by Barty Crouch Jr. played by David Tennant, so his paranoia was justified but he was adept. When he was a young wizard, he was known for his skills as an Auror and he was able to fill half of the Azkaban cell with Dark Wizards. He was also a strong ally of Albus Dumbledore.

Bellatrix Lestrange

We get to see Bellatrix at first in the Order of the Phoenix, played by Helena Bonham Carter. Her character is best known for exerting the curse of unforgivable cruciatus, in this spell, the victims will go through severe physical pain. She was sent to the prison of Azkaban after the first battle. She was Voldemort’s favorite for her fanatical loyalty towards him and his cause of malevolence and hatred towards Hogwarts house.
