What Disney announced at Destination D23
At the event billed as A Journey Around the Worlds of Disney, executives confirmed the sixth mainline Ice Age movie and shared details that set the tone: the new entry promises a “dinosaur-and-lava”–heavy, madcap adventure that pushes the franchise into previously unseen corners of its prehistoric world. The reveal joined a slate of other studio teases, including updates on Toy Story 5, Tron: Ares, and Zootopia 2.
What to expect from Ice Age: Boiling Point
Rather than returning to safe, snowy pastures, this installment takes Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie, Scrat and the rest of the gang into a treacherous Lost World where dinosaurs and volcanic hazards raise the stakes. The logline suggests a fast-paced, comedy-driven romp built around spectacle — think narrowly escaped eruptions, wild creature encounters, and the character-driven humor that has anchored the series since its 2002 debut.
The familiar voices — and who’s coming back
Disney confirmed key original cast members will return to their roles: Ray Romano as Manny, Queen Latifah as Ellie, John Leguizamo as Sid, Denis Leary as Diego, and Simon Pegg as Buck. Their return keeps the franchise’s signature chemistry intact while promising fresh situations for those characters to play off one another.

Where this fits in the Ice Age legacy
The Ice Age franchise began in 2002 and expanded through four main sequels — The Meltdown (2006), Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009), Continental Drift (2012) and Collision Course (2016) — plus a spinoff and shorts on Disney+. The last theatrical entry, Collision Course, earned roughly $408.5 million worldwide, and the franchise as a whole has generated about $3.2 billion at the global box office. Short-form spinoffs such as The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild and the Ice Age: Scrat Tales shorts (both 2022) have kept the characters in the public eye between big-screen releases.
Also revealed: Walt Disney Animation’s Hexed and other projects
Disney didn’t stop with Ice Age. Walt Disney Animation Studios chief creative officer Jared Bush unveiled Hexed, an original feature directed by Josie Trinidad (Zootopia+) and Jason Hand (Moana 2), produced by Roy Conli and Juan Pablo Reyes Lancaster-Jones. Hexed centers on an awkward teen and his Type-A mom who discover that the teen’s oddities are actually magical — a discovery that pulls them into a hidden world of enchantment. The studio indicated Hexed will hit theaters in November 2026.
