Microsoft appears to be gearing up for a major moment for racing fans, with the first real gameplay reveal of Forza Horizon 6 expected next week—and an apparent release date already making the rounds ahead of schedule.
According to reports circulating on X, a preorder-related pop-up briefly appeared inside Forza Horizon 5, hinting that the next entry in the Horizon series is closer than many expected. The notification, reportedly spotted in the in-game garage menu, points to a May 19 launch date for the standard edition of Forza Horizon 6, with early access beginning on May 15 for players who opt for premium options.
While the pop-up hasn’t been consistently reproducible—and multiple outlets have been unable to trigger it themselves—the timing lines up with what insiders have been hearing for some time. Microsoft has reportedly been targeting a May release window, making the leaked dates feel plausible, even if still unofficial for now.
Early Access, Premium Content, and Post-Launch Plans
The leaked details also shed light on what players can expect from the game’s Premium Edition or Premium Upgrade. Those who go all-in would gain four days of early access starting May 15, along with a bundle of extras designed to sweeten the deal.
Included perks reportedly feature VIP membership, a Welcome Pack, Car Pass, and a Time Attack Car Pack. Beyond launch, players can also expect two premium expansions and an Italian Passion Car Pack, suggesting Microsoft and Playground Games already have a clear roadmap for post-release content.
There’s also mention of a preorder bonus: an exclusive, tuned Ferrari J50. Its prominent placement in the leaked material has sparked speculation that the sleek supercar could serve as one of the game’s signature vehicles—or even its cover car—but that remains unconfirmed.

Japan Takes the Spotlight at Last
Perhaps the biggest headline, however, isn’t the date—it’s the setting. Forza Horizon 6 is finally heading to Japan, a location fans have been requesting for years. After the success of Forza Horizon 4 and Forza Horizon 5, which helped turn the series into a global powerhouse, Japan feels like a natural next step.
Microsoft is expected to showcase the game during the upcoming Xbox Developer_Direct, where the segment will offer a deeper look at gameplay, new features, and how Japan’s landscapes, cities, and driving culture are being brought to life. The promise is a “very first look” that goes beyond a teaser, diving into what makes this installment distinct from its predecessors.
Platforms and Release Strategy
At launch, Forza Horizon 6 is set to arrive on Xbox and PC in 2026. Notably, it won’t be available on PlayStation 5 on day one. However, Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios are reportedly working toward a PS5 version planned for post-launch, signaling a staggered release strategy rather than a permanent exclusion.
Waiting on Official Word
For now, Microsoft hasn’t formally confirmed the leaked dates or preorder details. Given the inability to consistently replicate the in-game pop-up, a degree of caution is warranted. Still, with a major reveal event just around the corner, official clarification may be imminent.
If the leaks hold true, Forza Horizon 6 could be racing onto the starting grid this May, bringing fans a long-awaited Japanese setting, a packed premium offering, and the next evolution of one of Xbox’s most successful franchises. Until Microsoft makes it official, all eyes are on next week’s showcase.
