Disney is set to revive its beloved 2016 animated fantasy epic “Moana” with a live-action adaptation slated for a July 10, 2026 theatrical release. Directed by Tony winner Thomas Kail, this new rendition stars newcomer Catherine Laga’aia as the titular Moana, with Dwayne Johnson reprising his role as the demigod Maui. The film follows Moana, a spirited girl deeply connected to her island and the sea, as she heeds the ocean’s call and ventures beyond the reef of her home island Motunui to embark on a quest alongside Maui to restore prosperity to her people.
