The Flashback: Better Than the League
The issue opens with a poignant flashback of Dick Grayson (Nightwing) and Wally West discussing how the Justice League recently handled the Church of Blood. They debate the ethics of dealing with a mortal enemy, and Dick confidently states that when their time comes to lead, the Titans will be better than the Justice League. The Dead Man Walking

Suddenly, the tension is shattered when Wally West casually walks into the room, apologizing for being late!. The team is incredibly relieved he isn’t dead in a pool of blood.
This bizarre situation forces the team to investigate the corpse. Cyborg runs scans and DNA tests, ruling out an extra-dimensional duplicate, a magical illusion, a shape-shifter, or an alternate Earth impostor. The terrifying conclusion? The dead body is genuinely Wally West.
The working theory is that the dead Wally is from the future. Realizing he had only seconds to live, he used the Cosmic Treadmill (evidenced by melted rubber on the corpse’s shoes) to travel back in time, bringing his body to the Tower so the Titans could solve—and prevent—his murder before it happens . Nightwing also notes traces of wood smoke and ash on the suit, and the fact that Wally was shot in the back at close range implies the killer was someone he trusted.
The Borneo Crisis
Before they can fully process the time-travel murder mystery, Oracle alerts the team to a massive emergency: a catastrophic blast has wiped out a city-sized patch of the Borneo rainforest, and the resulting fire is spreading rapidly.
Wally immediately volunteers to help, but Nightwing firmly orders him to stay behind. Dick explains that he needs Wally to survive to change his fate, and reveals that—like Batman—he has contingencies in place to stop his teammates if necessary . However, unlike Batman, Dick promises he will never hide those contingencies from his friends.
With Nightwing and Flash staying at the Tower to investigate the suit, Donna Troy steps up to lead the mission.
A Tamaranean Signature
The team arrives in Borneo and springs into action:
- Beast Boy goes on animal patrol, herding endangered creatures away from the flames.
- Cyborg and Raven coordinate to use their teleportation portals and gravity to drop a massive body of fresh water onto the blaze, acting as a giant fire extinguisher.
While surveying the damage, Beast Boy intercepts a group of illegal tree-clearers fleeing the scene. However, Starfire quickly realizes these normal men couldn’t have caused the explosion. She analyzes the energy signature of the blast and makes a horrifying discovery: the destructive energy is Tamaranean, just like hers!.
The Rebrand of Brother Blood
Later, back at Titans Tower, the team reconvenes. They acknowledge the chaotic nature of their first day on the job, juggling a future murder and mysterious global attacks, while praising Donna Troy for her brilliant tactical leadership in Borneo.
Beast Boy unpacks the TV and turns it on, only to stumble upon a live broadcast that leaves the team speechless.
On the screen is Brother Blood, but he announces a massive public rebrand. He claims the name “Brother Blood” is in the past and introduces himself as “Brother Eternity,” leader of the newly formed “Church of Eternity”.
Brother Eternity preaches that the world is ending due to corporate greed, but humanity doesn’t have to end with it. He reveals a crowdfunding campaign to build space probes and crewed missions to resettle humanity on other planets, capitalizing on the public’s fear.
When the interviewer presses him about the monstrous history of the Church of Blood and their clashes with heroes like the Titans, Brother Eternity doesn’t deny it. Instead, he uses it to drop a massive bombshell. To prove that his new Church of Eternity is trustworthy and has pivoted towards the light, he introduces a brand-new member of their ranks: Garth (Tempest), the Atlantean prince and former Titan!.
The issue closes on this shocking betrayal, as the Titans watch their old friend stand alongside one of their greatest enemies, leading right into the tease: “NEXT: FRACTURED TITANS”
