A heartbreaking incident at Disneyland has left the community mourning the loss of a dedicated employee, Bonnye Mavis Lear, 60, who tragically died following a severe accident involving a moving golf cart in the backstage area of the California theme park.

The accident occurred on a fateful Wednesday morning at approximately 11:30 am, when Anaheim Police Department responded to the crash site. According to law enforcement, Lear was rushed to the hospital after suffering grave head injuries from the fall. Despite the medical team’s best efforts, Lear succumbed to her injuries two days later, leaving behind a legacy of 24 years at Disneyland Resort.

Lear, a respected and beloved member of the Disneyland family, supported membership services at Club 33, a prestigious private dining club known for its exclusivity and exceptional service. The news of her passing has deeply affected her colleagues and the broader Disneyland community.

Disney California Adventure attractions cast member, Rae Delgado, took to Facebook to share more details about the tragic incident. Delgado explained that Lear was riding in the rear-facing seat of the golf cart, traveling at 20 mph behind Critter Country, when the accident occurred. “She went to grab the handrail, it gave way and sent her out of the vehicle. We do not know if the passengers were aware that she had fallen out,” Delgado wrote.

The golf cart, reportedly brand new and from the entertainment department, hit a road bump, causing Lear to be thrown from the vehicle. Delgado expressed her frustration and sorrow over the incident, stating, “It didn’t have to end this way. All of this mess could’ve been avoided if the driver of the golf cart wasn’t driving recklessly.” She added, “The golf cart from the entertainment department was brand new. How the hell could it fall apart?! It’s just so unfair to us & the family.” The tragic fall resulted in Lear sustaining a fractured skull and severe head trauma.

In the wake of this tragedy, Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock issued a heartfelt statement. “We are left heartbroken by the loss of Bonnye and offer our sincere condolences to everyone who cared for her,” Potrock said. “We are focused on supporting her family and our cast members through this tragic event and making sure they have the resources they need.”

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with authorities still piecing together the exact circumstances that led to the fatal crash. In the meantime, the Disneyland community continues to grieve the loss of a cherished colleague and friend, whose contributions to the park over the past two decades will not be forgotten.
