Clap When You Land makes you feel a wide range of feelings, and presents to you the love for siblings. This book is told altogether from two alternate points of view.  Yahaira, who lives in New York and Camino, who lives in the Dominican Republic.

This was something new and fascinating reading for me. I had never read an Elizabeth Acevedo novel, I have never been a huge fan of a book that is exclusively based on siblings and never read a novel written in such manner. In any case, I’m so glad I have now, since I have another freshly discovered love. It is so delightfully written, with so much of raw feelings. The words just flew so smoothly and the characters were so lovable.

At the point when I originally found out about Clap When You Land I felt that it would be like a parent trap. Two sisters, isolated by guardians, both living in various nations, unaware of each other presence. But, no! It was more than that. Way more. I was actually unable to believe my mind when I read it. How is it possible?

In “Clap When You Land” we follow two sisters ‘ points of view and how they are wrestling with the devastation of their dad death. However, that wasn’t sufficient for them. They soon came to know that they have a sister. Angry at their parents as well as at each other. Feelings are flying high. Nonetheless, soon meeting each other, and having a similar distress can bloom a newly discovered love. An affection they never figured they might have because it never entered their thoughts that they could have a sibling, a sister to cherish so dearly.

Finding out about Camino and Yahaira, their sorrow and their recently discovered relationship had my heart sinking somewhere down in my chest. I simply needed to embrace them both for the torment they are experiencing. The treachery of their dad, who they adored so truly, the possibility of losing a parent and having a sibling you never realized you had is difficult to consider.

I can hardly wait to read her other works. Clap When You Land is her newest novel and you should get it and feel all the feelings it will give you as it did for me.
