The galaxy is about to get a little brighter — and a lot more dangerous — as Ahsoka gears up for its second season on Disney+. Following the critical and fan success of its debut, the Star Wars spinoff is officially moving toward release after completing production in October 2025 — yes, Ahsoka Season 2 wraps filming, marking a major milestone for the series. The cast, led by Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, promises a deeper, more action-driven chapter that expands both the mythos of the Force and the legacy of its beloved characters.
A Bigger Role for Hera Syndulla
Among the returning heroes, one character in particular is taking center stage: Hera Syndulla. Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who portrays the veteran Twi’lek pilot and New Republic general, recently shared a glimpse of what fans can expect. Speaking to Collider during the The Hand That Rocks the Cradle premiere, Winstead teased a much larger role for her character in the upcoming season.
“You know, I’m not sure what I can say, other than I’m in this season a bit more, which is fun,” Winstead said, adding that Hera would be far more active this time around. “I’m definitely in on the action, quite a bit more… it was great to have a Hera really getting some stuff done.”
Her remarks confirm that Hera’s story will evolve beyond her leadership role in Season 1, where she balanced loyalty to her friends with the responsibilities of a New Republic general. Having spent much of the previous season guiding others from afar, it appears that Season 2 will place Hera directly in the field, blending her tactical brilliance with physical action and emotional depth.
Production Nears the Finish Line
Production on Ahsoka Season 2 began in the U.K. in April 2025 and has now reached completion. Alongside Winstead and Dawson, Natasha Liu Bordizzo (Sabine Wren) has also wrapped filming, sharing a behind-the-scenes silhouette photo hinting that the powerful bond between Sabine and Ahsoka will remain central to the story. Bryce Dallas Howard has also completed her directing duties, contributing two episodes that promise the same cinematic energy that defined her previous Star Wars work.
Interestingly, Hayden Christensen’s recent convention cancellation has sparked speculation that his role as Anakin Skywalker may be larger than fans expect. Considering the series’ exploration of the spiritual side of the Force and its ties to the Mortis gods, Anakin’s presence could deepen the show’s mythological layers.

The Story Ahead
Season 1 ended on a major cliffhanger, with Ahsoka and Sabine stranded on the mysterious planet Peridea — a realm steeped in Force lore — as Ezra Bridger finally returned to the New Republic. The next chapter will reportedly explore Peridea’s ancient secrets while amplifying Grand Admiral Thrawn’s rise to power. Thrawn, portrayed by Lars Mikkelsen, remains the central antagonist, his calculated ambition threatening to rebuild the fallen Empire from its ashes.
While fans are eager to learn the fate of Ahsoka and Sabine, the wait continues. There’s no official premiere date yet, though speculation suggests Ahsoka Season 2 will arrive sometime after the Star Wars spinoff film The Mandalorian and Grogu, which is slated for release in 2026.
A Galaxy Far, Far More Intriguing
From everything we’ve seen and heard, Ahsoka Season 2 is shaping up to be not only bigger in scale but richer in character depth. With more action for Hera, new Force mysteries, and the growing shadow of Thrawn, this next chapter seems poised to expand the Star Wars television universe in surprising ways. Mary Elizabeth Winstead summed up the experience best: “It was an absolute blast. I loved every minute of it. I can’t wait for people to see it.”
Ahsoka Season 2 is expected to premiere on Disney+ in 2026.
