In this chapter of the Absolute Green Lantern #7 (2025), the narrative drastically expands its scope to the cosmos, moving away from Earth to showcase the terrifying, authoritarian grip of the Blackstars and their ruthless doctrine.

The Doom of J586

The story opens on the heavily populated world of J586, which has fallen under the harsh judgment of the Blackstars. Blackstar intelligencers have detected three “subversives”—Oan cultists—hiding within the planet’s sphere of influence. The planet’s leader, Urlkith, desperately pleads with the colossal entity known as Mogo, begging for the lives of the world’s seven billion inhabitants. However, the Blackstars’ “Law of Qard” is uncompromising: the sin of a few becomes the sin of all. Ignoring the pleas for mercy, Mogo carries out a devastating strike against the entire planet.

The Weaponer’s Assault

On the planet’s surface, a fierce battle unfolds just before the destruction. A group of Green-level Oan initiates—including familiar figures like Arisia, Medphyll, and Qurina—are hunted down by a Blackstar “Weaponer” deployed to execute them. The imposing Weaponer is revealed to be a brutal reimagining of Kilowog. Operating on the principle of chaotic action and drawing power from the “Black Star,” Kilowog easily counters the Oan defenders’ tactics and structural defenses, brutally dispatching them despite their attempts to outmaneuver him.

As the Blackstars sweep the rubble to recover pieces of a mysterious Green Lantern gateway that crashed on the planet, an unexpected force intervenes. Tomar Re arrives on the scene, wielding the Red Power. He explains that while the Red Light is traditionally taught by Oans as a defensive tool that requires strict restraint, he actually stole the power and uses it completely unrestrained. Utilizing this aggressive mastery, Tomar Re brutally crushes the Blackstar forces, physically compressing Kilowog and the others into a tiny cube, which he sends off as a dark greeting to Mogo and the Blackstar leadership.

The narrative concludes with a chilling monologue from the “Controller of Mu,” the overarching authority directing the Blackstars. After receiving Tomar Re’s “gift,” the Controller discovers that his Scrivener has been accidentally recording his confidential musings and casually executes the subordinate to keep his secrets safe. The Controller then philosophizes about the violent, unforgiving nature of the universe, mocking the Oan ideals of understanding and enlightenment. In a final, shocking twist, he reveals that he is actually the sole master of the ultimate “Gold Power,” but rather than bringing enlightenment, he has chosen to walk a sinister path of ultimate control.
