There is no denying the fact that how much a wrestler goes through for performing the in ring action. However, Pro Wrestling is all about the in ring presence and larger than life appearance in the arena. And when we talk about superheroes, what do they need? A strong and larger than life presence, is what any superhero character requires. So, who better than a WWE star to portray the role of a superhero on the big screen. So, here are 7 WWE Stars Who Became Superheroes on The Big Screen.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson

The first wrestler in our list is the WWE icon Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Dwayne Johnson is perhaps the most successful wrestler turned actor. The electrifying pro wrestler has had a glorious run in Hollywood and has also shattered numerous records on the Box Office. However, the people’s champion got an opportunity to be  Kahndaq’s champion in 2022. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson portrayed the role of DC’s famous antihero Black Adam last year. The movie was highly anticipated and had a lot of buzz but unfortunately it was unable to meet the high expectations.

John Cena

Cena is undoubtedly one of the greatest wrestlers who has stepped inside the wrestling ring. The impact and draw of John Cena as a baby face in the Wrestling World is unparalleled. John Cena knew how to turn his wrestling popularity (especially in children) into Movie success. The 16 time champion initially faced a few hiccups but eventually got success with the Suicide Squad. But his real success in the superhero genre came with his own title show Peacemaker.

Edge

When we talk about Cena, how can we forget his archrival and his wrestling competitor ‘Edge’. The famous WWE star featured in The Flash TV Series. Edge is known for his speed and agility in the ring. However, in the tv series he portrayed the character of  the metahuman Atom Smasher. The master Spears ‘Edge’ was almost  unrecognizable in the role of Atom Smasher (as he appeared in a clean-shaven, short cropped hair look).

Lex Luger

The muscular man Lex Luger also got an opportunity to play a superhero role. He got an opportunity to portray a devilish doppelganger of the title hero in a dream sequence. The Character was meant to be a ruthless “All American” example of what really Superboy could have been. However, the shelf life of this character was also like a dream sequence. As the pro wrestler was thrown out of the project (after disappointment in the in-ring matches, that questioned his popularity in the masses).

We have discussed about Lex Luger’s portrayal in Superboy. Now let’s get down to his counterpart Supergirl. WWE diva Eve Torres Gracie got an opportunity to portray the character of Maxima in Supergirl. Maxima’s character is the queen of Almerac (the alien planet). Maxima also happens to be a former suitor of Superman. Do you think that the WWE diva was a perfect pick for Maxima’s role?

Kane

The Red Monster is known for his intimidating strength and scary looks. Kane played the role of the alien Titan in a story about a young Superman. This formidable opponent proved to be a formidable challenge for Clark, requiring more than just physical strength to defeat. Kane’s prior experience as the Undertaker’s vicious brother helped him portray a character who values nothing but battle, and the audience could feel the impact of every hit he inflicted on the smaller Clark.

Batista

The last name on our list is ‘The Animal’ Batista. Despite facing challenges early on in his acting career, Batista persisted in pursuing his dreams and eventually found success with the role of Drax the Destroyer in the marvel Cinematic Universe. On the surface, the character may appear to be a simple brute, but underneath his machismo lies a deeply emotional man still grieving the loss of his family. His literal-mindedness and insensitivity provide plenty of comedic moments, but also make him an honest and genuine character.
