All Her Little Secrets: By Wanda M. Morris | Part Murder Mystery And Part Legal Thriller

All Her Little Secrets by Wanda M. Morris is Part murder mystery and part legal thriller. The writing was fabulous. I think racism was woven into the story in a realistic way. Ellice was a good person, and the past stories were sad. Sam was likewise a good person, and I could feel his battle to get on with his life. I liked getting familiar with Juice and his life as well. There were so often I said “oh my god” when reading this book! So obviously the book was filled with surprises.

All Her Little Secrets By Wanda M. Morris

In the year 1979, Ellice Littlejohn got away from small town Chillicothe, Georgia. Thanks to a unfailing help of Miss Vera and full scholarship to boarding school. This springboard, alongside hard work, willpower, and isolating herself from past, gave Ellice an Ivy League schooling and a career as a lawyer. Presently working in the legal division of Houghton Transportation, she is one and only Black person in a prevalently white – and poisonous – working environment. After finding a shocking crime one morning while arriving for work, Ellice’s profession, as well as mysteries from past, are in danger.

All Her Little Secrets is told for the most part in the present from Ellice’s point-of-view. The books also has a few chapters that return to the past and uncover portions of her childhood. A few of the things she encounters are extremely upsetting and difficult to read. In the current day, Ellice encounters both obvious and more subtle discrimination as the one and only Black in the legal department of Houghton Transportation.

All Her Little Secrets by Wanda M. Morris is an exceptionally tense mystery novel. It was difficult to put down until I could find the entire story of what was happening at Houghton. I was shocked by a portion of the things that came out with regards to the murder, the intention, and the killer. I like the ending, however there were still some last details that weren’t tied up. There are additionally missed opportunity, particularly in getting to know the personality of Juice, a companion of Ellice’s sibling, and her closest companion, Grace, better. Overall! I liked this fascinating and fast moving mystery novel.
