During the CCXP event in São Paulo, Brazil, fans were treated to the first teaser and premiere announcement for the show’s fifth and final season. The series, produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, will debut on April 8, 2026, with a two-episode premiere, leading up to its series finale on May 20, 2026.
In this climactic chapter, the world belongs entirely to Homelander (Antony Starr). Kripke reflected on The Boys’ evolution into a razor-sharp political and cultural satire. He recalled how the series, originally envisioned as a darkly comedic take on superhero culture, became increasingly tied to real-world parallels. When the creators pitched the show in 2016, amid the rise of Donald Trump, its themes of authoritarianism, celebrity worship, and the manipulation of media took on a startling realism. “We realized we were telling a story about the intersection of celebrity and authoritarianism,” Kripke said, “and how entertainment and social media are used to sell fascism.”
