While anticipation grows for massive upcoming entries like Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, fans were recently hit with two surprising developments: the quiet cancellation of a mysterious Phase 6 project and the news that 2026 will mark the first year since 2010 without any new standalone Marvel titles.
A Cancelled “Event Film” in Phase 6
Reports confirm that Marvel has shelved an “Untitled Marvel Event Film” that was originally part of Phase 6. Though the studio has not revealed what the project was about, its branding suggested it would have been a crossover on a smaller scale compared to the Avengers series, yet still significant with a large ensemble of characters.
