The wait is over—Disney has finally released the teaser trailer for Zootopia 2, reuniting audiences with fan-favorite duo Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde. The animated sequel to the Academy Award®-winning Zootopia (2016) is set to premiere exclusively in theaters on November 26, promising fans a return to the wild and witty metropolis of anthropomorphic animals—with a whole new mystery to solve.
Familiar Faces and New Allies
Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman reprise their roles as rookie cop Judy Hopps and sly con-artist-turned-cop Nick Wilde. This time around, they team up with a surprising new character: Gary De’Snake, a mysterious pit viper voiced by Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All at Once). Gary’s sudden arrival in Zootopia shakes up the city, setting the stage for a thrilling case that sends the trio undercover into uncharted corners of the animal metropolis.
A Bigger, Wilder Zootopia
According to Jared Bush, who wrote and directed the sequel, Zootopia 2 expands the universe in bold new ways. “We are beyond excited to welcome everyone back to the outrageous, expansive animal metropolis of Zootopia,” said Bush. “Whether it’s the marshes of semi-aquatic mammals, the vast desert dunes, or even greater mysteries beyond, our heroes will discover more about the world—and themselves.”
Audiences will visit regions never seen in the first film, including territories filled with reptiles and aquatic creatures, signaling a broader representation of the animal kingdom. These include quirky new characters like Nibbles the beaver (voiced by Fortune Feimster) and Dr. Fuzzby, a quokka therapist played by Quinta Brunson.
High-Speed Chases and Mysterious Threats
The teaser trailer delivers high-octane moments as Judy, Nick, and Gary are seen being chased by Zootopia’s own police through several city districts. In a chilling turn, they come face-to-face with a hooded figure with glowing eyes, hinting at a larger conspiracy or villain yet to be revealed.
The Return of Gazelle and a New Soundtrack
Shakira returns as Gazelle, Zootopia’s beloved pop star, bringing with her a fresh look, a brand-new song, and updated dance moves. “Just wait until you see what she and her tiger dancers have been working on,” Shakira teased during the D23 Brazil expo.
Adding to the film’s musical charm, the teaser also features a new original song titled “ZUTU”, performed by Zootopia’s finest lemming techno group, LEMEEENS—Hans-Peter, Gūnther, Spielt, and their DJ Spaß. Known for touring with Gazelle as her opening act, the group brings a new pulse to the animated world’s soundtrack.
