DC fans finally have their first glimpse of Milly Alcock suited up as Supergirl in the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, thanks to recently leaked set photos and drone footage from the film’s London shoot. The images showcase Alcock — or possibly her stunt double — in a comic-accurate costume, standing atop what appears to be a military-style vehicle, hinting at a major action sequence.

A Bold New Take on Supergirl’s Costume

The leaked set photo offers a partial but exciting look at the new Supergirl suit. The design includes long blue sleeves, a vibrant red skirt, a wide golden belt, red boots, and a short cape — all reminiscent of the Woman of Tomorrow comic book version. The cape might be extended digitally in post-production. While the angle of the photo only reveals the back and side of the costume, fans are already praising its faithfulness to the source material.

With Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow still in the middle of principal photography, this unofficial reveal is the first real look at Alcock in character — and it aligns well with the visual style introduced in the original comic by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. The film appears to remain closely tied to that comic, a decision likely influenced by King’s involvement as one of the DCU’s architects under James Gunn.

A Glimpse into the Plot: Battle Brewing?

The scene captured in the footage appears to depict a looming battle. Alcock’s Supergirl stands atop a large vehicle, possibly military or alien in origin, suggesting an impending confrontation. The action is rumored to involve Krem of the Yellow Hills, the villain from the original Woman of Tomorrow comic, portrayed in the film by Matthias Schoenaerts. There’s also speculation that the scene could feature Lobo, played by Jason Momoa, further raising the stakes.

Adding to the intrigue is the sci-fi setting. Given that much of the comic’s storyline takes place in space, the environment in the leaked footage — though filmed in London — is expected to be digitally transformed into an alien landscape. This further supports the theory that the vehicle Supergirl stands on could be extraterrestrial in nature rather than Earth-based military.

Storyline and Cast Details

The film adapts Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, a critically acclaimed comic that reimagines Kara Zor-El’s journey. Unlike her cousin Superman, Kara was not raised on Earth. Instead, she grew up on a fragment of Krypton, witnessing traumatic events before arriving on Earth as a teenager. This gives her a much tougher, more hardened personality — something director Craig Gillespie and screenwriter Ana Nogueira intend to explore deeply.

The plot centers around Kara’s cosmic journey alongside Ruthye Marye Knoll, a young alien girl seeking vengeance for her father’s death at the hands of Krem. Ruthye will be played by Eve Ridley. The cast also includes David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Emily Beecham as Alura, and Jason Momoa as the infamous bounty hunter Lobo.

Additionally, Krypto the Superdog is expected to appear, having first been introduced in James Gunn’s Superman, which is set to release on July 11, 2025. This shared continuity further anchors Supergirl’s story within the expanding DC Universe.

Release Date and What’s Next

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is scheduled to hit theaters on June 26, 2026. As production continues and excitement builds, fans eagerly await an official reveal of Alcock’s full costume — ideally before more set leaks surface. Until then, these first looks offer a thrilling preview of what’s shaping up to be one of the DCU’s boldest and most faithful comic adaptations yet.
