Rainbow Rowell, a name synonymous with bestselling novels like Eleanor & Park and the Simon Snow Trilogy, is set to make waves in the DC Universe this July. Teaming up with artist Cian Tormey, she will contribute to Action Comics #1067-1069, where they’ll explore the dynamics of Lois Lane, one of the most influential figures in Superman’s life. This collaboration sits alongside a lead story crafted by Gail Simone and Eddy Barrows.

Rowell, a former newspaper reporter, expresses a deep connection to stories from the Daily Planet, where journalism isn’t just a background detail but a living, breathing aspect of Superman’s world. “The chance to pen a narrative that intertwines a love story with the bustling energy of a newsroom and the thrilling escapades of superheroes was too tempting to resist,” she explains. Her plot will focus on Lois Lane stepping into her own power, supported by Clark as she grows in conviction and courage—a poignant reflection of everyday human struggles and triumphs.

Rowell praises his initial sketches, anticipating that fans will be captivated by his portrayal of the iconic couple.

In addition to her renowned prose, Rowell has earned Eisner nominations for her work on Runaways and She-Hulk, and has ventured into graphic Novels with Pumpkinheads. Now, she brings her storytelling prowess to DC, marking her debut with one of its flagship titles.

Cian Tormey, an alumnus of the National College of Art and Design, has illustrated for notable titles including Nightwing, Batgirl, and the acclaimed Superman: Son of Kal-El. As he joins forces with Rowell, the comic book world eagerly awaits this fresh take on a legendary narrative.
