This scene, a thrilling 15-minute sequence aptly named ‘Stairway to Nowhere,’ demanded an incredible 78 days to shoot, with nearly 200 stunt personnel involved each day. This sequence is pivotal, symbolizing a turning point for Furiosa’s character.
Anya Taylor-Joy, despite her confessed inexperience with driving—she still doesn’t hold a driver’s license—mastered a J-turn on her very first day at stunt school. This feat hints at her commitment to authentically portraying Furiosa. Her portrayal is not just about the physical demands of the role; it captures the strategic and mental fortitude of Furiosa. Taylor-Joy reflects on the complexity of the scene, noting, “It showcases an accumulation of skills throughout the battle, highlighting Furiosa’s resourcefulness and resilience.
