According to Jonasson, the incident occurred in September 2010 in a hotel suite after a party. She claims that Diesel touched her inappropriately, tried to kiss her, and forced her hand onto his genitals. Despite her attempts to escape, Diesel reportedly continued his actions. Jonasson, feeling terrified, ran to the bathroom, but Diesel followed her. After the incident, Diesel behaved as if nothing had happened.
The following day, Jonasson was unexpectedly fired from her job. She believes her dismissal was a direct result of her resistance to Diesel’s advances. Her lawsuit also accuses Diesel’s production company, One Race, of gender discrimination, wrongful termination, and trying to cover up the incident.
Vin Diesel’s Denial and Legal Response
Diesel, on his side, through his attorney Bryan Freedman, has strongly denied the allegations. Freedman stated that this is the first time Diesel has heard of these claims, which Jonasson alleges occurred over 13 years ago. Emphasizing that Jonasson was an employee for only nine days, Freedman asserts that there is clear evidence refuting her accusations. Diesel’s response is an outright denial of all the claims made by Jonasson, suggesting that the allegations are completely baseless.
Jonasson’s Stand and the Broader Implications
Jonasson’s attorney, Claire-Lise Y. Kutlay, commends her client for her courage in speaking out against Diesel. The lawsuit not only seeks to hold Diesel accountable but also aims to challenge the conduct of his production company.
For years following the purported incident, Jonasson felt intimidated to voice her experiences against such a globally prominent actor, as stated in the lawsuit.
However, inspired by the empowering #MeToo and Time’s Up movements and supported by the protective measures of the federal Speak Out Act concerning nondisclosure agreements, Jonasson has resolved to break her silence. She is now determined to pursue justice and hold those accountable for their actions, demonstrating a newfound resolve to confront the issues she faced.The lawsuit also mentions another incident involving inappropriate behavior by another person at Diesel’s company, suggesting a pattern of misconduct. Jonasson is now demanding a trial and seeking compensation for the alleged harm and emotional distress caused by Diesel.
