10 Marvel and DC Superheroes Without Special Superpowers
Tony Stark/Iron Man
Tony Stark is a billionaire tech-industrialist, who is incredibly smart and is constantly inventing new creations. Stark was a genius prodigy who graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology at the very young age of 17. As one of the original Avengers, he has faced countless threats. Though he may not possess any enhancing powers, Tony Stark has his trusty suit of armour to give him the edge needed to fend off some of the most lethal supervillains in the entire universe.
Tony Stark, as a weapons manufacturing mogul, was kidnapped by some terrorists who demanded he make weapons for them. In order to escape from them, he managed to make a suit with the pieces of scrap metal available to him. This same suit, with major modifications, will later gain him the title of Iron Man. The Iron Man suit is also managed by the Artificial Intelligence, J.A.R.V.I.S. created by Tony himself. The suit of armour has many great features that make Tony Stark as Iron Man a force to be reckoned with.
Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow
Another prized member of the Avengers, Natasha Romanoff, better known as the ‘Black Widow’ for her deadly strikes, is a hero without any special powers. Romanoff was a former KGB operative, who was trained in the mysterious ‘Red Room’ to turn her into a dangerous assassin and spy.
Unlike her fellow Avenger, Tony Stark, who is fond of showy and flamboyant ways to deal with threats, Natasha has a much more covert and low-key way of operating. Romanoff is trained in multiple martial art techniques, including but not limited to, Krav Maga, Kung Fu and even Taekwondo. Not only can she hold her own in a fight, but she also possesses some extraordinary espionage skills.
Sam Wilson/Captain America/Falcon
Sam Wilson was once a para-rescue pilot for the United States Air Force, who decided to retire after a traumatic incident to help other veterans deal with their own traumas. Wilson is introduced as the intriguing Falcon.
Though Wilson does not possess any superpowers, his Falcon suit allows him to fly. The suit also gives him increased strength and speed, and even better vision with the help of the combat goggles. The Falcon has been a remarkable ally to Steve Roger’s Captain America and is also a part of the Avengers.
After Steve Rogers’ death, after careful and deliberate considerations, Sam Wilson decides to take up the mantle of Captain America. Unlike the previous owner of the legendary vibranium shield, Sam Wilson does not have any enhanced strength, speed or agility. In spite of this, Wilson’s compassion and commitment, make him more than worthy of this paramount title.
Scott Lang/Ant-Man
Scott Lang was an electronic engineer as well as a convicted felon. He has a daughter, Cassie Lang, who is suffering from heart disease. In order to get help for her, Lang gets desperate and decides to steal a suit from the scientist, Hank Pym. Thus, begins Scott’s journey of becoming Ant-Man.
Scott Lang possesses no powers outside the Ant-Man suit. The suit manages the Pym Particles, invented by the renowned scientist, Hank Pym himself. These Pym Particles allow the wearer of this suit to modify their size. This size modification provides the wearer with enhanced strength as well. Moreover, the helmet of the suit gives the wearer the ability to communicate with ants and control them.
Clint Barton/Hawkeye
Clint Barton is the last of the six original Avengers who does not have any superpowers. Hawkeye was a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent before he joined the team of the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Bruce Wayne/Batman
Much like Marvel’s Tony Stark, DC’s Bruce Wayne is also a billionaire philanthropist. Surprisingly, the resemblance between these two iconic heroes does not stop here. Wayne is also a genius who puts his money and mind into making a suit, which helps him in his mission of protecting his city, Gotham.
Though Wayne does not possess any powers, his suit grants him the ability to fly. His intellect allows him to stay ahead of the villains who threaten his city and his formidable butler, Alfred, is the gem in his arsenal.
Oliver Queen/Green Arrow

As a teenager, he was carefree and wild, though a situation turned south quickly and resulted in his then-girlfriend Leena’s death. Oliver has also washed ashore on an abandoned island where he was forced to survive only with the help of his bow and arrow.
Oliver became the Green Arrow upon returning and managed to keep criminals in a line with the help of his reliable weapons. Though he does not possess any powers of his own The Green Arrow is an astounding hero.
Dick Grayson/Robin
Richard ‘Dick’ Grayson started his superhero journey as Batman’s loyal ally and sidekick, ‘Robin’. When Grayson’s parents died at the hands of the mafia, he was taken in by Bruce Wayne. Grayson grew up very close to Bruce Wayne, which is how he became the Robin. Though as he started growing older he realized he needed a separate identity and hence adopted the alias, Nightwing.
The Nightwing does not possess any special powers, however, he is an excellent acrobat, which makes him fast and agile. Grayson is also incredibly smart and has important skills like hacking and can even use firearms properly.
Barbara Gordon/Batgirl/Oracle
Before she came to be known as her alter-ego, Oracle, Barbara Gordon started off as a sidekick to Batman, known as Batgirl. During her time as Batgirl, Gordon faced off many enemies, though, when she was shot by the Joker, she was confined to a wheelchair.
Gordon, despite the difficulties, did not give up. She embraced her role as the Oracle and used her intellect and impressive hacking skills to help all the other heroes. Even as Batgirl, Gordon had no powers but was trained in martial arts.
Kate Kane/Batwoman
Katherine Kane lost her mother and her twin sister when she was very young. Even though her father was supportive and compassionate during this trying time, the trauma from this event was difficult for Kate to deal with. Kane was accepted into the West Point military academy on account of her great academic and athletic performance.
When Kate returned to Gotham, she was attacked by a mugger whom she fought off successfully. Gotham and its many vigilantes, specifically Batman, helped her realize she enjoyed fighting crime. This was the inception of Gotham’s newest vigilante, Batwoman. Though she has no powers of her own, she made use of stolen military equipment and hand-to-hand combat to keep Gotham safe.
