Welcome to this episode of Booklicious Podcast, where we dive deep into some of the most captivating stories out there. Today, we will be discussing “The Unteachables” by Gordon Korman. This book follows the story of a group of “unteachable” middle school students and their unconventional teacher.

The book opens up with a prologue, which takes place 18 years before the main story. We meet a young teacher named Mr. Kermit, who is assigned to teach a group of unruly students who have been deemed unteachable by the school administration. Despite the challenges, Mr. Kermit is determined to make a difference and help his students succeed.

Fast forward to the present day, and we meet a new teacher, Mr. Zachary Kermit, who is assigned to teach the same group of unteachable students. But unlike his predecessor, Mr. Kermit is not enthusiastic about the assignment and is only biding his time until he can move on to greener pastures.

The students in Mr. Kermit’s class are also not thrilled about having another teacher who will give up on them like all the others. They have grown accustomed to being ignored and left to their own devices.

However, as the story progresses, we see the unlikely bond that forms between Mr. Kermit and his students. He begins to understand and appreciate their unique personalities and talents, and he is determined to help them succeed in their own way.

One of the students in the class, Parker, is a talented artist who is struggling with dyslexia. Mr. Kermit recognizes his talent and helps him find a way to express himself through his art. Another student, Kiana, is a talented musician who is struggling with stage fright. Mr. Kermit helps her overcome her fear and perform in front of her classmates.

The book is filled with humorous and heartwarming moments, as well as a few surprising twists and turns. It shows that with patience, understanding, and a little bit of creativity, anyone can be taught.

In conclusion, “The Unteachables” is a heartwarming and uplifting story that will make you laugh, cry, and root for the underdog. It’s a great read for middle schoolers and adults alike.
