Thrilling announcement for fans of both LEGO and The Legend of Zelda, Nintendo has officially unveiled the LEGO The Legend of Zelda Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 set, set for release on September 1, 2024. This eagerly awaited set is available for pre-order starting today.
A Nostalgic Homage
The LEGO The Legend of Zelda Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 set is a masterful recreation of the iconic Great Deku Tree, featuring 2,500 pieces. This versatile set allows builders to choose between constructing the tree as it appears in “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time” or “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.”
Intricate Design and Interactive Features
This set stands out with its meticulous attention to detail and interactive elements. In the “Breath of the Wild” version, the Great Deku Tree is adorned with vibrant pink blossoms and features the iconic Master Sword pedestal. Builders can animate the tree’s expressive eyebrows and mouth, adding a dynamic touch to the display.
The “Ocarina of Time” version showcases the tree with lush green foliage and includes a miniature model of Link’s House, adding an extra layer of nostalgia for longtime fans. This version also features a clever mechanism: when activated, the tree’s mouth opens to reveal a descending Skulltula, a familiar enemy from the game.
Iconic Minifigures and Accessories
The set includes four LEGO minifigures representing key characters from the series. The “Breath of the Wild” version features Princess Zelda and Link in their recognizable blue attire. For the “Ocarina of Time” version, builders will find both Young Link and Link. Additionally, the set includes buildable characters such as Hestu the Korok with his maracas, several smaller Koroks, Deku Babas, Navi the Fairy, the Deku Sprout, and a Skulltula.
Expert Insights and Enthusiasm
Eiji Aonuma, the producer of The Legend of Zelda series at Nintendo, expressed his excitement about the collaboration: “I’m really thrilled that The Legend of Zelda is joining the world of LEGO bricks, which has spurred the creative impulses of so many people of all ages. The Deku Tree was the first element from The Legend of Zelda we wanted to represent using LEGO bricks. This set allows you to build two different versions of the Deku Tree from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with unique features that are a great fit for the nature of the series. I can’t wait for everyone to get the chance to build this part of The Legend of Zelda world with their own hands.”
LEGO designer Wes Talbott also shared his enthusiasm: “Our fans have been asking for a LEGO set based on The Legend of Zelda series for a while so we were delighted to work with Nintendo to create the Great Deku Tree in brick form. As a fan of the franchise, it was great to work on this set and fill it with details and references from the games. I’m also glad we managed to offer the choice to build one of two versions to appeal to many Zelda fans. I can’t wait to see the fans reaction to this set.”
