Television’s most celebrated night returned with grandeur as the 2025 Primetime Emmy Awards unveiled this year’s winners. Hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze, the ceremony brought together the biggest names in television to honor outstanding achievements across drama, comedy, and limited series categories.

Heading into the evening, Apple TV+’s sci-fi sensation Severance led the pack with an impressive 27 nominations, while HBO Max’s gripping medical drama The Pitt followed with 13 nods. In the comedy realm, Seth Rogen’s Apple TV+ series The Studio dominated as a front-runner with 23 nominations. Among limited and anthology series, Netflix’s Adolescence (13 nominations) and HBO Max’s The Penguin (24 nominations) were major contenders — with the latter already winning eight Creative Arts Emmys before the main event even began.

Let’s take a look at the biggest winners who took home the golden statuettes this year.

Comedy Categories: “The Studio” Shines Bright

Seth Rogen’s The Studio was one of the night’s biggest victors, scooping several major awards. Rogen himself claimed Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, while the show also won for Outstanding Comedy Series, as well as Outstanding Directing and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series (shared with Evan Goldberg, Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory, and Frida Perez).

Jean Smart delivered another stellar performance in Hacks, earning her the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. Meanwhile, Hannah Einbinder, also from Hacks, took home Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

Jeff Hiller scored a surprise win for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his heartfelt role in Somebody Somewhere.

Drama Categories: “The Pitt” and “Severance” Dominate

The competition was fierce on the drama front, but HBO Max’s The Pitt emerged victorious as Outstanding Drama Series, beating out heavyweights like Severance, The White Lotus, and The Last of Us.

Noah Wyle led the wins for The Pitt, earning Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, while his co-star Katherine LaNasa grabbed Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

Severance didn’t go home empty-handed either. Britt Lower earned Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, and Tramell Tillman picked up Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his electrifying performance.

Limited or Anthology Series: A Big Night for “Adolescence” and “The Penguin”

The race was equally tight in the limited or anthology series categories. Netflix’s coming-of-age drama Adolescence swept several major honors, including the coveted Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series award.

Stephen Graham won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for his powerful role, while Owen Cooper claimed Outstanding Supporting Actor, and Erin Doherty won Outstanding Supporting Actress, both for Adolescence. The series also triumphed in the writing category, with Jack Thorne and Stephen Graham winning for Outstanding Writing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, and Philip Barantini taking home Outstanding Directing.

HBO Max’s The Penguin had its share of glory as well, with Cristin Milioti winning Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
