The next chapter in the legendary Call of Duty franchise is almost here. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has officially been announced at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live, complete with a release date, details about its beta, preorder information, and a deeper look at what players can expect across campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies.
The game launches worldwide on November 14, 2025, and is now available for preorder across multiple platforms, including Xbox, PlayStation, PC (Battle.net and Steam), and through Game Pass (Ultimate and PC).
Preorders and Early Access Beta
Preorders for Black Ops 7 are live now, and Activision has confirmed that preordering any edition grants early access to the open beta starting October 2, 2025.
Players subscribed to Game Pass Ultimate or Game Pass PC won’t need to preorder to access the game at launch—it will be included with their subscription.
Platforms
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will be available on:
- PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4
- Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One
- PC (Battle.net and Steam)
- Game Pass Ultimate (Xbox, Cloud, and Xbox on PC)
- Game Pass PC
Notably, the game will not launch on Nintendo Switch 2, despite Microsoft’s agreement with Nintendo to bring Call of Duty to its consoles in the future.
A Rare Back-to-Back Sequel
Unlike most entries in the franchise, Black Ops 7 follows directly on the heels of Black Ops 6, making it a rare back-to-back sequel. The story picks up in 2035, serving as both a continuation of Black Ops 6 and a direct follow-up to Black Ops 2.
This time, players once again step into the shoes of David Mason, son of the original series protagonist Alex Mason and the central figure from Black Ops 2. Mason, now portrayed by Milo Ventimiglia, leads a squad of covert operatives against a manipulative enemy who weaponizes fear. The campaign promises a psychological, espionage-driven narrative filled with paranoia and deception.
Four-Player Co-Op Across All Modes
Treyarch is leaning heavily into co-op gameplay with Black Ops 7. For the first time in the series, virtually all modes support up to four-player co-op, including campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies. Players can still go solo or team up in pairs or trios, but the goal is clear—keep your squad together across every part of the experience.
Carry-Forward Feature
In a first for the series, Black Ops 7 will introduce a carry-forward system, allowing select content from Black Ops 6 to transfer into the new title. This feature is designed to maintain continuity for players and preserve their progress and unlocks where possible.

Weapons: A Blend of New and Classic
At launch, Black Ops 7 will feature a diverse arsenal of 30 weapons spanning campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies. Sixteen of these are brand-new, while several fan-favorite classics return.
- Returning Weapons: Peacemaker MK1, M8A1, and PDW-57 (renamed as PUMA SMG) from Black Ops 2. The Rampart AR from Black Ops 4 also returns under the new moniker “Eagle.”
- Snipers: The VS Recon, a modern reimagining of the beloved DSR-50, headlines the sharpshooter category.
This arsenal will also carry over to Warzone once Black Ops 7 is integrated into the battle royale.
Zombies: The Largest Map Yet
As always, Zombies mode is one of the most anticipated parts of the game, and Treyarch is going bigger than ever. The upcoming Zombies experience will feature the largest map in franchise history, rivaling the scale of Black Ops II’s Tranzit.
Key features include:
- A drivable Wonder Vehicle to traverse sprawling nodes.
- Classic Survival maps, returning for longtime fans.
- Dead Ops Arcade 4, the biggest version yet of the beloved side mode.
- A crossover of crews: alternate versions of Richtofen, Nikolai, Takeo, and Dempsey will team up with the Black Ops 6 squad to face horrors from the Dark Aether.
A full Zombies showcase is scheduled for September, promising deeper reveals before the beta.
