While picking The Guest List, I ran over a couple of depictions that contrasted this book with those by Agatha Christie. This book, however, is no classic murder mystery; in fact the true identity of the victim is uncovered just 90% in the book. What this book is, however, is an excellent thrill ride!
The reality TV show star, Will, and an online publishing celebrity, Jules, has their wedding on a far off Irish island that is excellent and scary. The presence of the cormorant feathered creatures on the island, a harbinger of wickedness and passing according to old stories, rapidly showing the direction that the book will take. The main characters incorporate Will’s best man Johnno, Jules’ closest companion Charles and his better half Hannah, Jules’ sister Olivia, the occasion supervisor Aoife and her better half Freddy, and a variety of loved ones. As the book advances, it turns out to be certain that a large portion of the characters harbor dark secrets, and these are uncovered gradually, layer by layer, leading the climatic disclosures.
I don’t consider most murder mysteries, including those of Agatha Christie. Considering, the emphasis is on the secret instead of on the composition. However, The Guest List is a remarkable special case. Foley composes very well overall and has a nice turn of phrase. Simultaneously, her composing is exceptionally simple to follow so the readers can spend effort in considering the different characters and their privileged secrets, rather than in keeping pace with the story. The build of the book is interesting with the occasions of the wedding evening described as an outsider looking in sprinkled with those of before in the day and of the previous night described in the first person by Aoife, Hannah, Jules, Johnno, and Olivia. The story is told in the current state all through, and this alongside the distinctive depictions, makes it incredibly vivid for the readers.
The movement is drowsy yet at no time the reader’s interest flag – the slow peeling of the finer details and the fascinating mental investigations of the different characters guarantee that. The main issue to discover, assuming any, is that some of the standard figures of speech of a murder mystery have been utilized, empowering us to figure the character of the person and the culprit as we progress through the book. However, that doesn’t degrade the satisfaction in reader!
