Writing demands your mental energy

Writing is an intense mental activity, it demands not just time and effort but also your mental health. If you’re pre-occupied with a story, you’re in a sense living it in your head The characters, their lives are constantly reverberating in your head, and it can get exhausting. So it’s easy to just switch off, but that isn’t how good books get published. If you want to write, you have to write.

Writing doesn’t have deadlines

Creating anything demands consistency

Writers don’t become writers by writing in patches. Consistency is key. You need to push yourself to do your best and show up for the job, even when there is no boss. You need to hold yourself accountable and tell yourself that your great dream of publishing a book isn’t going to happen unless you really work at it.
